Many
professionals have contacted us over the years in search
of a field-specific or "technical" sign for a term used
in mathematics or science. This web-based Science/Mathematics
Sign Lexicon identifies published sources (books, CDs) where
a sign may be found for a term. If an X appears next to
the term, this means we have not yet identified a published
source that includes a sign.
Many experienced teachers and other professionals have
been using signs for some of these terms that may not
be found in published sources. If you know of a published
source not mentioned in this Lexicon, or if you know a
potentially good sign for these terms and you are willing
to share it with others in the field, please contact
.
In time, depending on our finding additional funding,
we may include some sign movies. We have developed a prototype
for marine science terms/signs for the National Science
Foundation project "Classroom
of the Sea". This Pictionary includes sign movies
and photographs which can be used as a resource for instruction.
Professionals interested in contributing to this ongoing
project may contact
We hope this Lexicon is helpful.
