FOREWORD

This Institute Policies and Procedures Manual contains the general and educational policies and procedures of the Institute, including those that describe our formal relations with our students. It also contains policies and procedures that support the work of our faculty, staff, and administrators.

As such, this manual replaces two former publications: the Educational Policies and Procedures Manual and the Faculty Policies and Procedures Manual, the contents of which are here included in a single manual, together with recently approved policies and procedures, as well as some widely applicable policies and procedures taken from the existing Personnel Policies Manual.

While this Institute Policies and Procedures Manual constitutes the most important collection of Institute policy statements, it is supplemented by information remaining in the Personnel Policies Manual, a list of which is provided after the Table of Contents.

This Manual is a necessary and valuable document, but there is one critical element that it cannot capture. That is the living community of the Rochester Institute of Technology. Each of us is an important and valued member of this community. By blending our talents and working together, we give life and energy to the vital reality which these policies and procedures seek to support and enhance.
