Steps in the Preparation and Review of New Certificate Proposals

Steps to Follow

#1. Review Required States in Curriculum Review Process.

#2. Review and follow Flowchart and Timelines for program approval.

#3. Review guidance from New York State Education Department on Certificates and Advanced Certificate Program Proposals and Certificate Eligibility for New York State Financial Aid.

#4. Prepare Proposal following RIT New Program Proposal Form.

#5. Following completion of all internal curriculum review and approval procedures outlined in Steps #1 and #2, prepare New York State Application for Registration of a Certificate Program.

Note that information required on this NYSED application form can be taken in its entirety from sections 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 9, 10 and 12 of the RIT New Program proposal Form and pasted into the NYSED form.

#6. Send NYSED Application materials to Senior Associate Provost for processing and approval with NYSED.

#7. The proposed program may not be advertised or admit student until approval has been granted and formal authorization received.
