Encouraging a robust portfolio of online general education courses

It is fascinating to reflect on the constantly changing landscape of online education. Just a few years ago, we could not open an issue of the Chronicle of Higher Education without reading about MOOCs. Of course, MOOCs remain popular but how they will become an integrated part of the critical strategy of higher education remains to be seen. At the same time, with pressure from student demand, institutions have ramped up their offerings of online courses.

Skimming through the plan, you will see ideas of expanding research, adding more experiential learning, establishing co-curricular transcripts, and many more. But throughout the discussion, the question of what are we going to stop doing? kept coming up.

The January 2015 Intersession, which just ended, showed impressive increases in enrollments and excelled in the experiences for both students and faculty.  Intersession 2015 enrollments for the Henrietta campus look promising when compared to those from 2014 as shown in the table below.
