Update: On-Time Graduation Action Plan, Budget and Timeline now complete

February 28, 2017

graduatesThe success of the RIT Strategic Plan “Greatness through Difference” depends, partially, on good communication in the progress of the implementation. While Academic Affairs has a leadership role with many of the 15 Tier One priorities, there are four that are of particular interest: the T-Shape initiative, On-Time Graduation, Interdisciplinary Work, and Graduate Education.

I want to take this opportunity to update the community on the latest progress behind the On-Time Graduation (OTG) initiative, which is captured as Difference Maker I.7:

Difference Maker I.7: RIT will make the on-time graduation of its undergraduate and graduate students a highly visible university priority.

You may recall that back in 2016, I charged a large, multi-divisional taskforce to develop an action plan that would provide the actionable steps, a timeline and a budget needed to be successful with DM 1.7. The taskforce dutifully submitted their report . At the time, the taskforce was still developing the budget requirements and I received these later in the fall of 2016. As a result, we now have the complete action plan and I am in the process of sharing the plan – action steps, timeline and budget – with the campus community.

I note that, due to fiscal prudence for next year, we are not anticipating budget monies to cover the requests for 2017-2018. This may impact our ability to implement the proposed action steps.
