Center for Multidisciplinary Studies Scholarships

The Center for Multidisciplinary Studies (CMS) also awards scholarship money to CMS students each year.  Some scholarships are based on financial need and others on academic merit.  Descriptions and application materials are listed below.  Students need to meet all eligibility requirements and submit application materials by the deadline indicated in order to be considered for a scholarship.

 

 

 

CMS Undergraduate Scholarship

ELIGIBILITY

  • Matriculated students in CMS Bachelors, Associates, & Diploma degree programs
  • GPA of 2.0 better. Recipients must maintain a GPA of 2.0 or greater.
  • Must demonstrate financial need
  • Completed FAFSA form to the RIT Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships (RIT's school code is 002806)
  • Completed scholarship application

BENEFITS

$100-$800 per semester

 

CMS MS in Professional Studies Scholarship

ELIGIBILITY

  • Matriculated students in the MS in Professional Studies program
  • GPA of 3.0 better. Recipients must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or greater.
  • Completed scholarship application

CRITERIA FOR AWARD AMOUNT

  • Outstanding academic merit and progress
  • Academic and community or professional service accomplishments
  • Interdisciplinary entrepreneurial professional interests which coincide with specific areas of recruitingor program development within CMS

BENEFITS

10% - 30% of semester tuition rate

 

Osher Reentry Scholarships

ELIGIBILITY

  • Matriculated undergraduate at RIT (in any major) between the ages of 25 to 50 whose collegiate studies were interrupted by circumstances beyond their control.
  • Must be pursuing a BS degree 
  • Must successfuly complete at least 16 quarter credit hours of RIT coursework during the year in which the scholarship is received
  • Completed FAFSA form to the RIT Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships (RIT's school code is 002806)
  • Completed scholarship application
  • Must have been previously enrolled in college and have had a 5+ year gap in their education
  • Must be at the undergraduate level and pursuing their first baccalaureate degree
  • Must anticipate workforce participation for a significant period of time after graduation

HOW TO APPLY

To be considered for this scholarship, please refer to the instructions listed on the Osher Reentry Scholarship Application.

BENEFITS

$5000 per year

Recipients will be chosen for each academic year.

NOTES

Only ten (10) Osher awards are given out each year.

 

Professional Re-employment Program (PREP)

ELIGIBILITY

  • Individuals who have been laid off or unemployed within the last year

  • Must provide document stating beginning and end dates for employment

  • May be used in conjunction with Rochester Works grants

ELIGIBILITY

  • Individuals recently unemployed
  • May be used in conjunction with PREP

Retraining Program (599)

ELIGIBILITY

  • Individuals receiving full unemployment and VA benefits
  • Must be registered as a full time student
  • Must be able to prove full time student status to the Department of Labor
