 Center for Multidisciplinary Studies Scholarships

The Center for Multidisciplinary Studies (CMS) also awards scholarship money to undergraduate* CMS students each year.  Some scholarships are based on financial need and others on academic merit.  Students who would like to be considered for CMS scholarships, should complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) form (RIT's school code is 002806) and complete the application noted below under "CMS Scholarships".

CMS offers a second scholarship called The Osher Reentry Foundation Scholarship.  Students must apply through the application process below.  Only ten (10) Osher awards are given out each year.

CMS Undergraduate Scholarship

ELIGIBILITY

  • Matriculated students in CMS programs with a GPA of 2.0 better. Recipients must maintain a GPA of 2.0 or greater.
  • Must demonstrate financial need
  • Completed FAFSA form to the RIT Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships
  • Completed scholarship application

BENEFITS

$100-$800 per semester

 

Professional Re-employment Program

ELIGIBILITY

  • Individuals who have been laid off or unemployed within the last year

  • Must provide document stating beginning and end dates for employment

  • May be used in conjunction with Rochester Works grants

Unfortunately, PREP does not cover the cost of Prior Learning Experience.

 

Osher Reentry Scholarships

ELIGIBILITY

  • Matriculated undergraduate students in CMS programs between the ages of 25 to 50 whose collegiate studies were interrupted by circumstances beyond their control.
  • Must be pursuing a BS degree through CMS
  • Must successfuly complete at least 16 quarter credit hours of RIT coursework during the year in which the scholarship is received
  • Completed FAFSA form to the RIT Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships
  • Completed scholarship application
  • Must have been previously enrolled in college and have had a 5+ year gap in their education
  • Must be at the undergraduate level and pursuing their first baccalaureate degree
  • Must anticipate workforce participation for a significant period of time after graduation

To be considered for this scholarship, please refer to the instructions listed on the Osher Reentry Scholarship Application.

BENEFITS

$5000 per year

Recipients will be chosen for each academic year.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Individuals recently unemployed
  • May be used in conjunction with PREP

  • Individuals receiving full unemployment and VA benefits
  • Must be registered as a full time student
  • Must be able to prove full time student status to the Department of Labor
