Mery Palarea-Lobos joined the Global Programs team in January as a Global Programs Specialist. Mery will provide operational and administrative support to the RIT Dubai campus. She will also provide coordination and logistics support for RIT campus based programs with global outreach efforts.

Mery is new to RIT, bringing with her previous experience as an Outreach Coordinator with the Crown Foundation in Chicago. She also has a multicultural background with experience living, studying, and working in various countries including Guatemala, Italy, and the United States. Mery holds an M.A. in Arts Administration from the School of Art Institute of Chicago. We are very excited to welcome Mery to our team!

Mustafa Abushagur, the president of RIT Dubai is returning to his homeland to serve as the deputy prime minister in the newly liberated country of Libya. Abushagur, who is also a professor of microsystems engineering at Rochester Institute of Technology, left his RIT post in November for an eight-month period to begin building a democracy in Libya. Maureen Barry’s first-year ASL interpreting students enrolled in the Interpreting Discovery class had the opportunity to virtually connect face-to-face with students enrolled at RIT’s American College of Management and Technology in Zagreb, Oct. 25.
