Student Support Services

RIT departments and online services are geared toward helping students with any and all needs including parking, schedules, conflict resolution, and entertainment. Below is a list of links to commonly used campus resources and departments.

Academic Support Center
The Academic Support Center provides academic assistance to all RIT students including study skills, math, physics and writing labs, workshops on academic success skills, structured monitoring, and many other support services for all students.

Tutoring at RIT
Tutoring at RIT provides students with information on where to seek tutoring.

College Restoration Progrm
College Restoration Program is a one quarter academic intervention program for RIT students who are on academic probation or suspension.

TRiO Student Support
TRiO Student Support Services is a federally funded program that supports qualified students with academic and personal problems to help ensure their success at RIT. This is done through tutoring, counseling, and other enrichment programs.

Disability Support
Disability Support Services is committed to providing students, faculty, and staff with disabilities equal access to programs, services, and physical facilities at RIT.

Academic Accomodations
Academic Accomodations provides academic support services to students with documented disabilities. To utilize these services, students must first be approved by the Disabilities Services Coordinator.

Institute Advising Office
RIT Institute Advising Office is dedicated to helping all students explore and identify alternate majors and programs.

Counseling Center
The primary mission of the RIT Counseling Center is to promote and support the success of a diverse population of students through the provision of high quality personal and career development counseling, assessment, research, teaching and consultation services by professionally qualified faculty and staff.

Multicultural Center for Academic Success
The Multicultural Center for Academic Success (MCAS) is committed to maximizing the academic potential and holistic development of students by creating an inclusive, student-centered environment. By keeping academics first and foremost, MCAS strives to become a nationally recognized model for academic excellence and student success.

International Student Services
International Student Services provides assistance and guidance to students, faculty, and staff regarding international student issues.

Academic Coaching
Academic Coaching is a free service that introduces students in more effective learning and study strategies. Students work 1:1 with a Student Support Specialist to enhance time management and study habits as well as learn of important resources on campus.


RIT Resources

myRIT
myRIT is Rochester Institute of Technology's portal providing the RIT community a customizable web page that can be personalized with news, services, resources, and access to online courses. Students can personalize their page by adding “portlets” that display information like the campus event calendar or allow them to view the balance of and add money to their food or flex account.

Student Information System (SIS)
SIS allows students to access their personal information like GPA, exam schedule, course listings, and financial aid information. In addition, students can register for classes and report unmet academic needs using this system.

RIT Schedule Maker
Created by RIT students, this is a very helpful resource when trying to organize the next quarter's schedule. All the student needs to do is input the course numbers and activities they need to fit into their schedule and the Schedule Maker will create a schedule with all of the elements specified.

Undergrad Bulletin
RIT's annual Undergraduate Bulletin containing information on all undergraduate programs and requirements.

Graduate Bulletin
RIT's annual Graduate Bulletin containing information on all graduate programs and requirements.

Office of the Registrar
The Office of the Registrar maintains the official academic records for current and former students. The office publishes the quarterly Schedule of Courses; coordinates registration; issues ID cards; schedules classrooms; produces the final exam schedule; handles all corrections to student data; verifies enrollment and degrees; processes transcript requests; and prepares and mails diplomas.

Student Financial Services
Formerly the Office of the Bursar, the Student Financial Services office deals with billing and student debt.

Admission
RIT's Offices of Undergraduate Admissions and Graduate and Part-Time Enrollment oversee the admissions process, receive applications, and conduct campus tours and orientation sessions for new students.

N.T.I.D.
The National Technical Institute for the Deaf (NTID) is the world’s first and largest technological college for students who are deaf or hard of hearing. As one of eight colleges within Rochester Institute of Technology, NTID provides excellent academic programs; outstanding access and support services; and diverse educational, social, and personal development opportunities for students.

Office of Financial Aid
RIT’s Office of Financial Aid assists students and their families in identifying sources of financial aid to help meet the cost of a quality education. Currently, more than 12,000 RIT students receive over $160 million dollars in financial assistance from federal, state, and institutional resources, in the form of scholarships, grants, loans, and part-time employment.

Housing Operations
RIT Housing Operations places students in RIT housing: the dorms, on-campus apartments, and the RIT Inn. They also have listings for students looking for roommates for on and off campus housing.

Wallace Library
RIT's Wallace Library has a number of online resources like a wide range of subject databases, online account access, the digital media library, and an "e-brary" which contains the full text of a number of books, accessible online for all RIT students, faculty, and staff.

Campus Safety and Parking
The office of Campus Safety handles emergencies and disturbances, but also houses parking and transportation services. To get an RIT parking pass, students must register their car with the office of Campus Safety.

Student Health Center
The mission of the Student Health Center is to provide health care, support and education for students. Among their services are immunizations and nutritional counseling. Professional staff are here not only to take care of you when you are sick, but also to help you learn to prevent illness and maintain good health.

Student Problem Resolution
The Student Problem Resolution Office is "never the wrong place to go." The office of the RIT Ombudsperson is also affiliated with this department. Their goal is to provide confidential, neutral student advocacy in a variety of situations.

Co-op and Career Services
The Office of Co-op and Career Services has job listings for co-op and internship positions from companies around the country. They also offer career and resume counseling, and mock interviews.

Student Employment Office
The Student Employment Office deals with on-campus student and work-study positions with various RIT departments. A student must also register with the SEO and obtain a student employment card to work in a student employment position at RIT.

OCASA
Off Campus and Apartment Student Association (OCASA) is a governmental and service organization aimed at assessing and meeting the needs of its members. It is the responsibility of OCASA to acquire student opinions, implement student ideas, and provide a more defined connection between the RIT administration and its members.         Their goal is to provide services to their members and act as a liason to the administration regarding the non-dorm population.

College Activities Board
The College Activities Board (CAB) organizes events on campus like concerts and movies. Their event calendar lists all of the planned events for the quarter.

The Source
Check out "The Source" sponsored by the Center for Campus Life. The Source offers links to a variety of academic services, student activities, food and fun.

Barnes & Noble at RIT
Visit Barnes & Noble at RIT for your textbooks, supplies, general reading, RIT paraphernalia and other goods. Barnes & Noble is located in Park Point on the corner of Jefferson Rd and John St.
