CMS is a creative place to work. This may be because we work with our multidisciplinary degrees or perhaps creative people are drawn to this atmosphere of thinking broadly about learning. Either way, it makes for a collaborative environment where faculty and staff share ideas without taking themselves too seriously. I wouldn’t want it any other way.
CMS students are about as interesting as you’ll find anywhere. Our classes are a mix of youth and adults, international and American, students from every RIT college, and students with remarkable academic and career experiences and interests. Allowed to pursue their diverse passions, CMS is a real melting pot of ideas. At the end of my classes, I often tell students that if they learned half as much as I did, the class has been a success. I really mean it.
I am lucky that our degrees are offered at RIT’s international campuses and have provided me with the chance to teach abroad. I have met a lot of interesting people, broadened my global perspective and increased my teaching skills. My trips abroad help me see that we all have more in common than we have differences.
