In the Media Resource Center faculty and students may come and view the university's media and slide collections. Faculty can also bring in media to be placed on reserve for their classes.
Our media collection contains over 5,400 videos and 1,800 DVDs, covering a wide variety of topics. We have viewing stations to watch videos and DVDs. We also have listening devices for CDs.
PLEASE NOTE: ALL ETC MEDIA IS RESTRICTED TO THE RIT CAMPUS ONLY FOR FACULTY AND STUDENT USE ONLY.
Most videos must be watched at the MRC, although in some cases instructors will have videos that can be checked out for 24 hours. The 24-hour loan period ends at the same time the next day (Ex. 8:00 a.m. due back the next day at 8:00 a.m.
Late charges are $.25 per hour). You can also renew by phone at X5-2551.
You can check out audiotapes and walkmans, which can be used anywhere within the library. There is a 2-hour loan period.
All Senior Seminar, Gannett Lectures and Online Learning tapes are located in the MRC.
To search for media online:
- Go to http://library.rit.edu/
- Search by Word, Title, Subject, etc. (upper left-hand corner of the screen)
- Go to Modify Search and fill out search sheet. Under Entire Catalog highlight Videos and only the videos/DVDs will be located.
- Click on the title(s) in which you are interested. Location, Catalog number and status/availability will appear on the screen.
- When you come to the MRC to check out the media you looked up please have the catalog number.
