Trustee's Lifetime Achievement Award for Scholarship in the area of Graphics and Graphic Design

This award was given by the RIT Board of Trustees in 2014 in recognition of Professor R. Roger Remington's exceptional accomplishments throughout his fifty years of service to RIT. The award serves as an acknowledgement of his teaching excellence and his many scholarly contributions to the fields of graphics and design as well as his commitment to design education and preservation.

  • An RIT faculty member since 1963
  • Established the Massimo and Lella Vignelli Center for Design Studies at RIT, which serves as the preeminent source for design education and preservation as well as the home of the Upstate New York chapter of the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA)
  • Developed the Graphic Design Archive at RIT reserving and interpreting the original source materials of 30 Modernist design pioneers
  • Recipient of the Eisenhart l Award for Outstanding Teaching
  • Inducted into both the New York Art Directors Club Hall of Fame, an honor whose past recipients have included Walt Disney and Andy Warhol, and the Alliance Graphique Internationale (AGI), an exclusive group of the world's leading graphic artists and designers
  • Author of several books on the history and pioneers of graphic design
