Honors Seminar Developing for the One Laptop Per Child XO

Description:
In this blended Honors project course, students will learn to develop and/or convert applications for use on the OLPC XO platform, a laptop computer designed for educational use by elementary school students in 3rd world countries. The course will meet in the classroom once a week with RIT faculty face-to-face and a second time per-week on-line with OLPC developers around the projects they are creating. The course will also feature videoconference lectures with leaders in the OLPC community. Students will also attend monthly meetings of the local OLPC users group. Students can opt to create their own projects or join with existing development teams working to create standing projects in the OLPC community.
