About College Coaching...
College Coaching is the theme that unites the direct service offerings proposed by Nazareth College. College Coaching is a natural approach to enhancing preparation for college success. College Coaching includes direct services to students and teachers. The following programs are included in College Coaching:
College Coaching in Schools for Academic Success
College Coaches, a select group of undergraduate and graduate students, work directly with students during school hours under the supervision of classroom teachers to help attend to the skills, attitudes, and behaviors necessary for academic success such as:
- Short and long-term goal setting
- Organization skills
- Planning and time management
- Cooperating with peers on projects
- College Preparation
- Research skills
- Effective study skills
- Personal goal setting
Nazareth College, with the help of RIT GEAR UP and the College Coaches, work to provide programs for students while visiting the Nazareth campus. Activities in this program work to provide an authentic sense of college life, showing students the in’s and out’s of a college setting to allow students to gain a sense of familiarity with a small and accessible college environment.
College Coaches are there for the students, as mentors, teachers, and friends, allowing students a chance to study with and learn from students currently enrolled in college. In addition to academic services, Coaches also help students to identify career goals and show them the multitude of options available through college attendance.
