Dr. Christine M. Licata
Senior Associate Provost

Dr. Christine Licata, Senior Associate Provost, has worked in the field of education for 40 years. She joined RIT in 1979 as chairperson of the Business Department at NTID and later became director of the School of Business Careers, Associate Dean and Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs at NTID. In that role, she supervised 11 academic departments and was responsible for oversight of curriculum, research, faculty recruitment and development, program review, accreditation, and outcomes assessment.

Dr. Licata is known for her research in the areas of faculty evaluation and, specifically, post-tenure review. She is the author of one of the first national reports and three books on this topic.

Dr. Licata holds a bachelor's degree in Business Administration-Management and an M.S. in Education, both from Canisius College, Buffalo, NY; and an Ed.D. in Higher Education from George Washington University, Washington, D.C.

Prior to RIT, she was a faculty member and program chair at Montgomery College (Maryland), Monroe Community College (New York), and a Mathematics and Business instructor in the Buffalo and Rochester City Schools.

  • Advance student academic success and retention initiatives; chair Student Success Steering Committee
  • Serve as the university's liaison with the State of New York Department of Education 
  • Oversee academic support programs including the Honors Program, K-12 University Center, Office of the Registrar, University Exploration Program, University Advising, University Writing Program and Fram Chair in Applied Critical Thinking
  • Oversee Educational Effectiveness Assessment and Student Learning Outcomes Assessment
  • Guide work of Faculty Associate for General Education
