RIT Resources for New Faculty
(THE) GLBT CENTER
The Gay, Lesbian, Bi-Sexual, Transgender (GLBT) Center (created under the auspices of the Campus Life) is located on the basement level of the Student Alumni Union (SAU). The center is an emerging service center for GLBT and questioning students on the RIT campus. It is overseen by the Director of the Center for Campus Life, is staffed by a small team, consisting of a Graduate Assistant and student paraprofessionals. It also provides some office space for OUT-Spoken, the Major Student Organization dedicated to serving undergraduate students, and the RIT Gay Alliance (RITGA). Both groups provide various programs on campus for the GLBT population. The center sponsors various educational programs, oversees a small library, and provides some training programs, (including Safe Zone training) for faculty, staff, and students through the CPD series, and also designs programs for specific needs of student groups and departmental organizations. The center has started to coordinate RIT's first Gay-Straight Alliance, consisting of approximately 166 people.
