RIT Dubai recently played host to Happiness Talks, a monthly corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative which aims to connect Dubai’s community and create and enable happiness during 2017, dedicated by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan as the Year of Giving.
Over the course of the session, participants heard from two engaging and powerful speakers. The first speaker, Nasreen Kawash, an Emotional Intelligence Consultant, emphasized the essential part that optimism plays in cultivating success and happiness in life. Drawing on the science of emotions, she explained how neuroscience and positive psychology rely on strengthening our emotional intelligence to develop and embed a constant positive mindset.
Lynn Baker, Managing Director of Executive Presence, went on to discuss her extensive research into customer happiness. “Unless all businesses and their leaders are focused on customer satisfaction and the ultimate happiness of customers, it won’t be in business for much longer,” she explained. “However without happy employees it will be an incomplete formula. Happy Employees + Customer Experience = Customer Happiness.”
Attendees also enjoyed playing “unlock your happiness”, powered by escape room giants Escape Hunt. Divided into teams, participants were encouraged to unlock a safe by solving clues to be rewarded with prizes upon successful completion.
Commenting on the event, Dr Yousef al Assaf, President of Rochester Institute of Technology Dubai said: “We are delighted to host Happiness Talks. It is an amazing initiative and we are dedicated to creating awareness of it across the community to support the UAE government’s objectives. Here at RIT Dubai we have recently launched a Corporate Happiness Diploma which we have developed with the aim of increasing happiness levels of employers, customers, visitors and residents across the UAE.”
Chief Happiness Enabler at Touch Points, Rehan Naeem, added: “We are here after a short summer break and we are delighted to create the awareness and enable happiness to support the UAE’s happiness objectives. Our new home at RIT Dubai will ensure high attendance levels for Happiness enablement in the community for months to come.”
Adnan Butt, Managing Director at Touch Points, concluded: “With the new bigger venue we extend this opportunity to learn about happiness and a happy mindset to everyone living in the UAE.”
