On March 30 & 31, The School of Individualized Study (SOIS) co-hosted the annual Individualized Major Programs (IMP) Conference at the Arbor Loft in downtown Rochester,NY. The conference was kicked off by keynote speaker, David Helfand, Professor of Columbia University and President of Quest University from 2008-2015. Helfand spoke to the unique educational opportunity Quest provides students through its non-traditional approach to higher education. Over 20 individualized major programs from around the country and world joined SOIS including co-hosts Drexel University, Ithaca College, and St. Bonaventure University, along side Duke University, Metropolitian State University of Denver, UConn, and many others. An international panel featuring IMP colleagues from Hong Kong, Germany, and British Columbia rounded out day two of the conference through discussion of their unique perspectives, challenges within, and approaches to individualized education. The IMP Conference facilitates the sharing of ideas, pedagogies, and changes happening within the unique space of individualized education. Learn more about this IMP network of schools at IMP Network.
