Wednesday, October 18, 2017

For the seventh consecutive year, the Printing Applications Laboratory at the Golisano Institute for Sustainability, hosted six participants for a 2-1/2 week training program in mid-September for Aller Holding A/S, a major Danish magazine printer. Designed for Aller managers, along with lecturers and recent graduates from the Danish School of Media & Journalism and the University of Norway, the program highlighted best practices in the printing industry. Over the course of the program, the participants were introduced to key concepts such as lithographic color standards, print quality vs. image quality, Lean Six Sigma, soft proofing, e-magazines, and the future of print, all taught by RIT professors, staff, and alumni. On the weekends, the visitors toured Quad Graphics in Saratoga Springs, as well as Boston, Niagara Falls and Toronto.
