Over the last few years, RIT has made considerable progress in making connections and putting the pieces together to engage the campus in institutional and student learning outcomes assessment. The university conceptualized and planned assessment initiatives around specific recommendations and goals. In so doing, the university has moved much closer to an assessment culture that places increased importance on direct measures of student learning outcomes, an emphasis on the importance of using the results to improve programs and services, and focus on institutional effectiveness. An overarching goal is improving and sustaining meaningful assessment practices.
