Leah Bradley, Senior Assessment Associate in the Student Learning Outcomes Assessment Office, presented Seeing the Forest and the Trees at the AALHE (Association for the Assessment of Learning in Higher Education) 2014 Conference in Albuquerque, N.M. June 2-4, 2014.
The presentation highlighted RIT’s Student Learning Outcomes Assessment Progress Report, developed collaboratively by faculty and administrators. The Progress Report is designed to assess institutional goals related to program-level student learning achievement and continuous program improvement.
This assessment process supports institutional goals and provides opportunities for engaging academic programs, creating positive change in the campus culture of assessment, and sharing assessment results with internal and external stakeholders.

The 2014 Assessment Network of New York (ANNY) Conference was held on the RIT campus from April 28-30, 2014. ANNY was formed in 2010 with the primary objective of creating a state-wide network to stimulate dialogue and the exchange of ideas related to assessment across institutions and to provide support and resources to those committed to meaningful assessment of student learning and institutional effectiveness.
This year's theme was Using Assessments to Drive Improvement: Practical Applications from the Field. The objective was to provide those engaged in assessment with an opportunity to share examples of how assessments have been used to improve teaching, learning, and institutional effectiveness. The conference was attended by 140 assessment professionals from all academic and administrative areas, as well as faculty and staff members.
RIT faculty and staff were well represented at the conference. Presenters and links to their work are here.
A team (Leah Bradley, Sandi Connelly, Elizabeth Hane, and Anne Wahl) from RIT traveled to West Point, NY in April to present Assessment is a Team Sport at the 2013 Assessment Network of New York (ANNY) Conference. The presentation provided an overview of the Faculty Engagement Model that drives RIT’s General Education assessment practices. Click here to see the PowerPoint presentation.
