Address Changes

Changed your mailing address?

Please inform the Registrar's Office when your mailing address has changed. You may update your address on the Student Information System (SIS) or in the Registrar's Office.

The accuracy of your address information is important as it is used by the Admissions, Student Financial Services, Cooperative Education and Career Services, Financial Aid & Scholarships, Student Employment, and Alumni offices.

It is important that you update your home, local, and emergency addresses.

In the past few years, we have experienced a number of student related accidents and injuries that have required emergency notification of their families. In many cases, we have not been able to make timely notifications because the student did not have any information in the emergency contact section in the Student Information System (SIS) or the information that did exist was outdated. As a result, we had to find other less efficient, and sometimes very time-consuming means of locating family members and/or appropriate emergency contacts. We trust you all share RIT's concern that if you were seriously injured, you would want your family and/or emergency contact notified of the situation as soon as possible in a sensitive and caring manner. If we are to follow through with this wish, we need everyone's cooperation.

Please complete the emergency address section in the Student Information System (SIS) with the name and permanent address of the person(s) you want us to notify regarding any emergency/life-threatening situation in which you are involved. This needs to be someone that legally can make a medical decision on your behalf. In most cases, this would be your parents, guardians, or a spouse/partner.

Within the Student Information System (SIS) there are six address fields to choose from: 1) home; 2) alternate; 3) local (Rochester address); 4) next-of-kin; 5) emergency; 6) RIT alert. Please make sure that the address field titled "emergency" contains the name and address of the person(s) you wish to have us notify in case of an emergency.
