Provost and Chief Academic Officer

The Provost reports directly to the President and works closely with the Vice President for Academic Affairs to enhance student success and with the Vice President for Research to promote faculty scholarship.

The Provost, as chief academic officer, is responsible for:

  • Shaping and driving the academic missions of the university by building and maintaining a vibrant faculty with superior teaching and scholarship achievements.  All RIT college deans report to the Provost, who has overall responsibility for all degree programs.
  • Ensuring the quality of faculty teaching and scholarship in support of student learning experiences.
  • Ensuring that RIT has the highest quality facilities for its academic programs and has overall supervision of the Academic Affairs budgets.
  • Increasing the diversity of RIT’s faculty.
