Please visit the web version of the manual at www.rit.edu/policies to see the full policies. Paper updates have been sent to all RIT managers for inclusion in the Institute Policies and Procedures Manual (the Green Manual) which they have been asked to make available to employees upon request. Jordan Sr. Pluralism Award Revised Policies B2.0 - Charter of Academic Governance - edited to reflect the addition of ex-officio, non-voting members of the Academic Senate (Article V, section 1) B3.0 - Staff Council By-Laws - sections 3, 4, and 7 were revised. C6.0 - Policy Prohibiting Discrimination and Harassment - revised to include the words, "gender identity" and "gender expression." C16.0 - Smoking - edited to reflect that smoking is prohibited in all RIT housing and outlines where smoking is permitted in relation to residential facilities. D2.0 - Admission - revised to include the words, "gender identity" and "gender expression." E1.0 - Employee Classification and Status - edited to remove the words, "two or more quarters" from the definitions of faculty classifications. E1.1 - Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action (EEO/AA) - revised to include the words, "gender identity" and "gender expression." E4.0 - Faculty Employment Policies - section 4 - Faculty Responsibilities - paragraphs renumbered, three paragraphs added to a.. Teaching; section 4.c. Service added; sections 5-9 renumbered, new policy referrals for 9.a. Non-reappointment. E19.0 - Faculty Pursuing a Graduate Degree at RIT - revised to replace the word "master’s" with "graduate." E20.0 - Policy on the Discontinuance, Reduction or Transfer of Academic Programs - edits include the addition of a paragraph on communication immediately preceding section 2a, inclusion of a section that outlines the process for reduction of programs (2b.), section 4a was revised to specify the length of time a faculty would continue to be employed if a program is discontinued, and section 5c was revised to include the words, "educational development faculty member." E24.0 - Faculty Grievance Procedure - edited to include groups of faculty in the procedures. Faculty and Staff Awards, including the Length of Service Awards, have been consolidated under E12.0 in the Manual. As a result, the Eisenhart Awards for Outstanding Teaching Policy has been renumbered as E12.1, the Staff Recognition Awards Policy has been renumbered as E12.4, and the Length of Service Awards Policy has been renumbered as E12.6. Policy numbers E28.0 and E35.0 will remain open for reassignment if that becomes necessary in the future. Policies that were renumbered are not included in the packet unless there were other revisions or edits made. For the policies mentioned above that are not reissued, please renumber them and move them to section E12.0 in your Manual. Please note also that in instances where the title "Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs" appears in the Manual, the correct title is now "Provost and Chief Academic Officer." The Learning Development Center (LDC) is now the Academic Support Center (ASC). The Department of Grants, Contracts and Intellectual Property is now called Sponsored Research Services (SRS) for issues related to bringing research funds to campus or Technology Licensing Office (TLO) for matters concerning the protection of intellectual property and/or marketing and licensing technology transfer. The Personnel Department is now the Department of Human Resources. The Judicial Affairs Office is now the Office of Student Conduct and Mediation Services. Policies that reference these titles and departments under their old names have not been revised and included in this packet unless there were other revisions; however, you should note the new titles for these areas. The new titles will be incorporated into the web version of the Manual.
