  • T. Policano remarked that there’s a committee that advises HR on benefits.
A faculty member from KGCOE remarked that RIT takes between 25-40% for “overhead” on a grant.  Is that true?
  • At Senate meeting 5/10/12, it was decided to finally bring the vote on B2 to the tenured/tenure-track faculty.
  • T. Policano thinks it’ll pass.  Asked whether AAUP should send out a companion email about non-voting lecturers and voting students/staff?
  • Also wants to try to reintroduce E6/standing charges for next year:  review promotion committee for lecturers and add ranks for adjuncts.
  • J. Baker remarked that COLA held a luncheon Monday, May 7th and recognized everybody – lecturers, promotions – but nothing about adjuncts.
  • Asked if RIT was planning on hiring more adjuncts to facilitate conversion?
  • There are a lot of adjuncts that put their rank on their vitae.  (And at MCC, pay based on rank.)
  • Faculty Affairs Committee that should present this charge.

Meetings over the summer:  June 7th, 12-2 p.m. and August 2nd, 12-2 p.m.
Charges for June:  (1) bring lecturers together to discuss voting for their two reps; (2) benefits?  There was an inquiry about rumors of contributions being reduced.  T. Policano made the suggestion to talk to Renee Brownstein.  Also, are tuition waivers being reduced?
