For additional funding and grant opportunities see the 2016 Funding Guide put together by the Environmental Finance Center at Syracuse University. The center at Syracuse University is one of ten, corresponding to the 10 EPA regions, across the United States. The group's main purpose is to provide assistance to public and private entities with environmental management financing.
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation maintains a grant program for various environmental initiatives, including food waste management. To see the full list click here. Two grants of interest for the food waste community are the Grants for Waste Reduction and Prevention Projects under the Municipal Waste Reduction and Recycling Program, which has a rolling deadline, and the Grant Funding for Municipalities under the Climate Smart Communities Grant Program. The Climate Smart Communities Grant accepts applications only for a period of time during the year, often during the spring/early summer. Click on the link above to find out when the next request for applications will be.
