The goal of the NYSP2I Professional Wet Cleaning Program is to reduce the use of toxic perchloroethylene (perc) in the NYS garment cleaning industry. The program focuses on encouraging the use of professional wet cleaning as an alternative. Key components of the program include:

• Informational materials customized for NYS garment cleaners
• Case study conversions of two perc-based cleaners to professional wet cleaning
• Wet cleaning equipment demonstrations across the state
• Financial assistance
• Survey of NYS dry cleaners
