Mike Haselkorn

Dr. Michael Haselkorn is a Senior Staff Engineer and team leader for the Structural & Materials Analysis Team at the Center for Integrated Manufacturing Studies (CIMS). His responsibilities include material evaluation, root cause failure analysis, and developing and demonstrating new cost-effective processes for material salvage. Dr Haselkorn also has experience in cellulosic ethanol production from ensiled biomass and food processing wastes, biodiesel production, and aerobic and anaerobic digestion.

Dr. Haselkorn has over 35 years industrial experience in material evaluation, root cause failure analysis, product design and component manufacturing focusing on developing new applications and cost-effective manufacturing methods for ceramic, carbon, high-strength/high-temperature super alloy compositions, stainless and high-strength steels. His experience includes Caterpillar Inc., Textron Specialty Materials, General Electric Aircraft Engine Business Group, and Armco Steel Corporation.

Dr. Haselkorn earned his MS and Ph.D. in ceramic engineering from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, and BS in ceramic engineering from Alfred University in Alfred, New York. Dr. Haselkorn currently holds 32 patents.
