RIT-Rochester General Health System Alliance Announces New Leadership Appointment
RIT Assistant Vice President Cindee Gray named managing director of strategic alliance
Oct. 28, 2009
Cindee Gray has been appointed managing director of the RIT-Rochester General Health System Alliance. Gray, assistant vice president of Government and Community Relations at RIT, has been with the university for 23 years.
In her new role as managing director, Gray will serve both organizations and work with the joint alliance steering committee. She will be responsible for project management, community outreach, communications, a budget and will work with a national strategic consulting firm.
“Cindee Gray is perfect as the managing director of the RIT-RGHS alliance,” says Jeremy Haefner, co-chair of the joint Steering Committee and RIT provost and senior vice president for Academic Affairs. “She brings over 20 years of experience working with the community. She has superb organizational skills and execution. And she will do an exceptional job as the liaison between the steering committee and the national consulting firm we will work with to create a strategic plan.”
In addition to spearheading major RIT on-campus events throughout her career, Gray has provided leadership for other community events including the Empire State Games, Young Women of Distinction Scholarship Awards, Finger Lakes FIRST Robotics Competition and New York Special Olympics State Summer Games. Her commitment to community service, fundraising and event planning has garnered her several awards.
Gray, an Ogden resident, is president of the Henrietta Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and is president-elect of the Women’s Council, an affiliate of the Rochester Business Alliance. She is chair of the 2010 Athena Awards. Gray earned an Executive MBA from RIT in 2007.
“After a long and rewarding career in government and community relations and special events, this job is the next logical step for me,” says Gray. “It is an amazing opportunity, not only to help define RIT’s future with RGHS, but also to contribute in a meaningful way to the future of the Rochester community. The current economy demands the need to find new and better ways to deliver services in all areas, so the chance to learn more about health care delivery while exploring the possibilities this partnership will reap for education and research is very exciting to me. I’m sure I’ll be putting my recent MBA to good use.”
Since the announcement of the strategic alliance in December 2008, RIT faculty and Rochester General Hospital physicians have begun collaborating on numerous endeavors in the areas of education, research and shared services. RIT students from various degree programs are allowed access to Rochester General Hospital operating rooms as part of their course curriculums. Physicians and faculty members are also submitting joint research grant proposals to the National Institutes of Health. Both RIT and Rochester General Health System worked closely on plans related to the H1N1 flu.
