President of the Board

DESCRIPTION
Provide leadership for the RIT Alumni Association and Alumni Association Board of Directors. Provide service to RIT and encourage other alumni to give their time, talent, and treasures to the Institute. Assist the staff in planning, evaluating and execution of alumni programs.

STAFF RESOURCES
Staff Resources are the Executive Assistant to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director for Alumni Relations and the Vice President for University Advancement.

TIME COMMITMENT
Two-year term, three full Alumni Association Board meetings per year, three Board of Trustees meetings, monthly Alumni Association Board Executive Committee meetings: average for the year is approximately 10-15 hours per month

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Know and follow the mission of RIT and the RIT Alumni Association
  • Be an active member
  • Chair the three full Board meetings each year
  • Chair the Executive Committee monthly meetings
  • Attend the three Board of Trustees meetings each year
  • Attend Reunion and play an active role during the fall weekend
  • Participate in the Convocation and Commencement exercises
  • Serve on at least one committee within the Alumni Association Board structure
  • Attend as many Alumni Relations sponsored events as possible and encourage other alumni, parents and friends to join you
  • Serve as host at a variety of Alumni Association Board events and gatherings
  • Assist the Membership Committee and staff in identifying future alumni leaders
  • Set an example for the Alumni board by participation financially in the life of the Institute
  • Serve as an ambassador for quality higher education at RIT
  • Exercise loyalty towards the Board and confidentiality regarding its internal affairs as discussed at meetings

Vice President of the Board

DESCRIPTION
Provide leadership for the RIT Alumni Association and Alumni Association Board of Directors. Provide service to RIT and encourage other alumni to give their time, talent, and treasures to the Institute. Assist the staff in planning, evaluating and execution of alumni programs. In case of absence of the Chair, perform and be vested with all duties and powers of the Chair.

Staff Resources are the Executive Assistant to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director for Alumni Relations and the Vice President for University Advancement.

TIME COMMITMENT
Two-year term, three full Alumni Association Board meetings per year, monthly Alumni Association Board Executive Committee meetings: average for the year is approximately 6-8 hours per month

Secretary of the Board

DESCRIPTION
Provide leadership for the RIT Alumni Association and Alumni Association Board of Directors. Provide service to RIT and encourage other alumni to give their time, talent, and treasures to the Institute. Assist the staff in planning, evaluating and execution of alumni programs. The Secretary has the responsibility to (1) create agendas and reports for distribution to the Alumni Association Board, (2) track attendance at Alumni Association Board meetings, (3) manage minutes from Alumni Association Board meetings.
