Dean's Leadership and College Services Team
Dr. H. Fred Walker, CAST Dean
Dr. H. Fred Walker joined the College of Applied Science and Technology (CAST) as its new dean in August 2008. As CAST's dean, Dr. Walker is the chief academic, fiscal and administrative officer for the college. He provides leadership for the college’s curricular initiatives, scholarship, professional training, and faculty recruitment.
With his values of transparency, strong communications, and shared governance, Dr. Walker has brought a renewed focus to the college. Through cultural change, curriculum refinement, increased collaboration, and clear goals, Dr. Walker is driving CAST toward increased success locally and globally.
Dr. Walker has a strong background in engineering technology and administrative leadership along with significant scholarship. He earned his Ph.D. in Industrial Education and Technology and master's degree in Systems Engineering from Iowa State University, and his MBA and BS in Industrial Technology from California State University - Fresno.

Dr. Linda A. Tolan, Senior Associate Dean
Dr. Linda A. Tolan manages curriculum, accreditation, student academic issues, student retention, and facilities. She is a tenured associate professor and teaches cross-disciplinary studies including human resources development, career theory, organizational development, and strategic future thinking. Dr. Tolan has a B.S. in management science – behavioral science, an M.S. in career and human resource development, and earned her Ph.D. in Leadership. Dr. Tolan has certification as a Certified Professional in Learning and Performance(CPLP) from the American Society of Training and Development. She is also certified by the National Board of Certified Counselors.
Maureen Valentine, Associate Dean and Paul A. Miller Professor
Maureen S. Valentine, P.E., serves as vice dean and Paul A. Miller Professor for the college. As vice dean, Professor Valentine is responsible for faculty affairs and selected operational administrative activities of the college. As the Paul A. Miller Professor, Professor Valentine will pursue several special projects, including strengthening the efforts of the Women in Technology program and incorporating sustainability and green design into the college’s programs. The former chair of the civil engineering technology, environmental management and safety (CETEMS) department, Maureen is a tenured professor and earned her BS in Civil Engineering from Tufts University and MS in Geotechnical Engineering from Virginia Tech. Professor Valentine remains active in student clubs and local professional societies.
Karin Edinger, Assistant Dean of Academics
Karin Edinger is CAST's assistant dean of academics. She is responsible for undergraduate student academic policies and procedures: day-to-day student problem resolution, academic decision-making; college-wide staff human resources: policy interpretation,systems, and problem-solving;and leadership of dean's office academic support staff: academic service delivery including scheduling, academic processing, commencement, publications, college events, HR processing, and related areas. Karin brings RIT, industry and consulting experience to the assistant dean position.
Jessica DiTucci, Financial Analyst
As CAST’s financial analyst, Jessica is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of our college’s accounting and budget information, including enrollment data, human resource budget information and financial reporting. Jessica came to CAST from the University of Rochester, where she was the associate director of operations and finance for the William E. Simon Graduate School of Business Administration. Throughout her 20-year career at the University of Rochester, Jessica held progressively more challenging positions in accounting, finance and management. She earned her associate degree from RIT and is currently taking courses toward her bachelor of science degree in the Center for Multidisciplinary Studies (CMS).
