Dr. John Morelli, Russell C. McCarthy Chair
The Russell C. McCarthy endowed chair, residing in the College of Applied Science and Technology, was established in 1980 for the purpose of building relationships between the college and industrial and professional communities worldwide that share the college’s interests, goals, and values. In his two-year term as McCarthy chair, Dr. John Morelli investigates the evolving roles and responsibilities of environmental managers–particularly as they pertain to sustainability–and conducts a series of Environmental Management Leadership Symposia at RIT and in international locations. Dr. Morelli also conducts an annual Environmental Management Leadership Symposium to be held at RIT each spring, coinciding with the executive leader sessions of the EHS Management graduate program.
Dr. Morelli joined the RIT faculty in 1991 and was promoted to full professor in 2002. He was chair of the Environmental Management and Technology department for nine years. In addition to being a Professional Engineer, Dr. Morelli serves as a diplomat in the American Academy of Environmental Engineers.
Maureen Valentine, Vice Dean and Paul A. Miller Professor
Maureen S. Valentine, P.E., serves as vice dean and Paul A. Miller Professor for the college. As vice dean, Professor Valentine is responsible for faculty affairs and selected operational administrative activities of the college. As the Paul A. Miller Professor, Professor Valentine will pursue several special projects, including strengthening the efforts of the Women in Technology program and incorporating sustainability and green design into the college’s programs. The former chair of the civil engineering technology, environmental management and safety (CETEMS) department, Maureen is a tenured professor and earned her BS in Civil Engineering from Tufts University and MS in Geotechnical Engineering from Virginia Tech. Professor Valentine remains active in student clubs and local professional societies.
Linda Tolan, Senior Associate Dean
Linda Tolan manages curriculum, accreditation, student academic issues, student retention, and facilities. She is a tenured associate professor and teaches cross-disciplinary studies including human resources development, career theory, organizational development, and strategic future thinking. Linda has a B.S. in management science – behavioral science, an M.S. in career and human resource development, and is pursuing her Ph.D. in Leadership. She is certified by the National Board of Certified Counselors.
Janice Farone, Assistant Dean
Janice Farone manages the college’s administrative and academic support functions and oversees academic events, human resources, systems administration and technology, and business process improvements. Janice received her B.S. in organizational management and is certified in project management. Her career spans several areas of business. She has held management and senior project leadership positions in higher education and global telecommunications. Janice is currently enrolled in RIT’s Executive MBA program with an expected completion of November 2009.
Jessica DiTucci, Financial Analyst
As CAST’s financial analyst, Jessica is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of our college’s accounting and budget information, including enrollment data, human resource budget information and financial reporting. Jessica came to CAST from the University of Rochester, where she was the associate director of operations and finance for the William E. Simon Graduate School of Business Administration. Throughout her 20-year career at the University of Rochester, Jessica held progressively more challenging positions in accounting, finance and management. She earned her associate degree from RIT and is currently taking courses toward her bachelor of science degree in the Center for Multidisciplinary Studies (CMS).
