Giving
The College of Applied Science and Technology (CAST) encourages students, alumni, parents, faculty, and staff to get involved in the life of the University. Involvement includes giving as well as volunteering. The RIT community is grateful for money and time that our constituents donate every year. CAST in particular has seen an 89% increase in its annual giving and has involved many of its alumni and friends in activities such as membership on industrial advisory boards and alumni societies, mentoring students, and speaking on campus. We thank you for helping CAST succeed!
Keeping the Momentum Going
The University’s eight-year comprehensive fundraising campaign is complete—and a huge success. “Powered By The Future: The Campaign for RIT,” was powered by more than 33,000 donors throughout the world contributing a total of over $309 million, well above the goal of $300 million. Though the campaign exceeded expectations, a number of areas are still in need of support. The college has successfully raised funds for phase one of a new engineering technology building scheduled to open in the fall of 2007. However, funds are still needed for phase two so all engineering technology programs can be housed in this state-of-the-art facility. CAST will need continued support for this building, along with scholarships, endowment, and unrestricted project support. Giving can be done in a number of ways including planned giving, gifts of cash and stocks, matching company gifts, and bequests. RIT also has two giving societies; the Nathaniel Rochester Society for annual givers donating more than $1,000 and the Ellison Society for alumni and friends who have established bequests at RIT. Gifts can be sent at any time, but alumni are solicited in the fall for the annual fund. For more information about giving to CAST, contact the associate director of development, Catherine Bement, (585-475-4975) or go directly to RIT’s Development website at Giving Opportunities.
Volunteer
Volunteering is a meaningful way to show your support and give back to the University. RIT offers volunteer opportunities in several areas, such as recruiting, career advisory, newsletters, and educational speaking. You can also get involved with CAST student club projects such as the Mini Baja, Concrete Canoe and Steel Bridge competitions, and the RITz Dinner. Additional opportunities exist at the University level with the RIT Alumni Network. For a list of volunteer opportunities in your area, visit the RIT Alumni Volunteer website.
