During Summer
Leadership Training Course
The Leadership Training Course (LTC) is four weeks of intense classroom and field training held at Fort Knox, KY. This course is an accelerated version of the two years of leadership development training Cadets receive in the Basic Course. By transforming yourself through this rigorous training, you will qualify for enrollment in the Advanced Course on campus, provided you have two years of college remaining (undergraduate or graduate).
Leadership Development and Assesment Course (LDAC) Every Army ROTC Cadet who enters into the Advanced Course attends the Leadership Development and Assessment Course (LDAC). It's a five week course to evaluate and train all Army ROTC Cadets, and includes land navigation, weapon familiarization, cultural awareness, situational training exercises and garrison operations. Cadets normally attend this course between their MSL 3 and 4 years, and it is conducted at Fort Lewis, WA.
Army Airborne School Cadets selected for Airborne School attend the Basic Airborne Course at Fort Benning, GA. This course, approximately 3 weeks long, trains students on the use of a parachute as a means of combat deployment. As a graduate of this school, you will have completed 5 jumps from an aircraft at low altitude, some with combat equipment, thereby proving your leadership and self-confidence. It also entitles you to serve in an Airborne unit upon commissioning as an officer.
Army Air Assault School Cadets selected for Air Assault School attend one of the several Air Assault Courses held at Army posts across the country. Approximately, 10 days in length, this course trains students on the use of helicopters for combat deployment, including transportation, rigging and sling-loading equipment, and rappelling as a method of departure.
Army Mountain Warfare School
The Mountain Warfare School trains students on the basic and advanced skills required for operating on mountainous terrain, day or night, in any climate. Cadets selected for this course attend the Basic Military Mountaineer Summer Course held in Jericho, VT. The course is approximately 14 days long and trains students on the tactics, techniques and procedures for small unit mountain operations.
Army Northern Warfare School
The Northern Warfare Training Center trains students to operate in demanding cold weather and mountainous environments. Cadets selected for this school attend the Basic Mountaineering Course at Fort Wainwright, AK, which is approximately 14 days long and also teaches the tactics, techniques and procedures for small unit mountain operations.
Cadet Troop Leadership Training
Each year, Cadets may be eligible for a practical leadership program known as Cadet Troop Leadership Training (CTLT). For approximately one month, Cadets gain experience through assignment with an active duty Army units worldwide as an assistant platoon leader. |
