BS in Civil Engineering Technology

Overview

Civil engineering technology makes many people think of hard hats, but construction is only one of many job opportunities available in this field. Solving challenges posed by the environment is a hot field in today's civil engineering technology landscape. Civil engineering technology graduates restore polluted rivers as well as century-old bridges; design public parks accessible to people with disabilities, construct roadwork in isolated areas, design water delivery systems....you name it! RIT's program allows you to specialize while maintaining a broad-based background in civil engineering technology. You'll also acquire one year of on the job experience through cooperative education. RIT's Civil Engineering Technology program is accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology. Program educational objectives and program outcomes can be found here (PDF). With a bachelor of science degree, you'll be eligible to take the New York State Fundamentals of Engineering exam, the first step toward becoming licensed as a professional engineer. The Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering Technology program is accredited by the Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission of ABET, http://www.abet.org .
