Alumni Society
Greetings

Over the past few years the CMS Student Alumni Society has has grown into an organization to be proud of. We have formed networks with fellow alumni through holiday parties and social gatherings. We have brought joy and happiness to several families (alumni, students and friends), that were in need during the holiday season. We have also sponsored informational breakfasts and orientations allowing students and alumni to come together and learn more about what RIT and CMS have to offer.

As 2008 approaches, the CMS Student Alumni Society is looking for new people with fresh ideas to help build our membership. If you are the type of person who wants to have fun and make a difference in peoples lives, just one hour a month is all it takes to be part of the CMS Student Alumni Society.

If you are interested in becoming a member of our alumni society, we invite you to attend one of our monthly meetings to find out more about what the CMS Student Alumni society has to offer.

Mission Statement

The Center for Multidisciplinary Studies (CMS) Student/Alumni Society is committed to fostering and strengthening a spirit of community among alumni, faculty, staff, students, families and friends. We are devoted to promoting and maintaining positive and interactive lifelong relationships between current and future members. All CMS Alumni are ambassadors for the department and university and therefore form a sound networking foundation which is characteristic of a great educational institution.

Core Beliefs

  • We recognize the importance of higher education and lifelong learning.
  • We believe a partnership should exist between students, alumni, their families and the department.
  • We believe that quality and accessibility are essential if the department is to fulfill its mission of teaching and community service.
  • We believe that students and alumni have much to contribute to the future development of the department.
  • We acknowledge we are a resource to our students, alumni and their families and will continue to develop this relationship.

The Center for Multidisciplinary Studies Student/Alumni Society has members who have volunteered to serve as mentors to other students to help answer questions based on their own experiences at RIT. If you need advice about classes, concentrations, textbooks, online courses, professors, parking, or even balancing work, family, and school, these people are more than willing to help. Please contact Janet Nystrom at her e-mail address jsnldc@rit.edu to be assigned to a mentor.
