Hospitality and Tourism Management (Masters)
This is my first year at RIT and I cannot express my sense of gratitude for everyone I have worked with this year. I am a graduate student and will be completing my Master's degree. I would say that my favorite part of the Hospitality and Tourism Department is the diversity and personalized attention I receive. As one of the few American students in a small program, I have been able to develop close friendships with students from all around the world. Being in such a diverse program has allowed me to experience new cultures, broaden my horizons, and expand my worldwide network. Since our department is small, the class sizes have allowed me to work closely with my professors, which allows for close personalized attention as it pertains to my classwork as well as my future career goals. Originally, I had chosen to attend RIT over other suitors because of the chances that I had to apply my courses abroad. In January of 2014, I was fortunate enough to travel to Dubai with my peers for a week as we studied tourism in the Middle East with two of our professors. Having come back from that trip, I have now been exposed to a new area of the world and have a great appreciation for the Middle East. Another aspect that I love about CAST and the Hospitality and Tourism Department is the amount of resources available to me. My professors and advisors are all extremely knowledgeable and well-connected in the industries I am looking to pursue. As someone who is looking to work outside of the USA upon graduation, the department has been a great resource in many ways. I could not have picked a better program to be a part of!
