Department Scholarships

Transfer Scholarship Program

The National Science Foundation (NSF) awarded RIT a four-year $599,984 grant from its 2012 Scholarships in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (S-STEM) Program to increase substantially the number of high technology workers and to develop high-quality professionals in selected fields. RIT is contributing $50,000 in the post-grant period in support of this program. These scholarships are in addition to the grants and scholarships already awarded by RIT. ECTET Academic Excellence Endowed Scholarship

This award was established in 2007. This endowment provides academic merit and financial need based scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students in the Electrical, Computer and Telecommunications Engineering Technology (ECTET) Department at RIT. Selection for this scholarship is based on the students continued good standing as an undergraduate or graduate student in ECTET. Criteria for selection are: maintaining high academic achievement standards (GPA 3.5 or higher), demonstrated need for financial assistance and active participation within the ECTET department.

Mitel Scholarship

The Mitel scholarship was founded by Sir Terrance Matthews of Mitel Corporation in 2009 to award entrepreneurial, high performing, students from the ECTET department financial assistance in completing their academic endeavors. Mitel is a leading provider of communications solutions which range from basic business communications to sophisticated unified communications, from pre-packaged to tailored applications, and from an outright capital purchase to a managed service.

In June of 2006, Mitel donated IP telephone equipment to the Department of Electrical, Computer and Telecommunications Technology within the College of Applied Science and Technology. In August of 2006, MiteI conducted its first recruitment of RIT students for co-op positions.

Alumni Scholarship

The Department of Electrical, Computer and Telecommunications Engineering Technology has been awarding scholarships to outstanding students in the department since 1998. Thanks to the generous support from our alumni we are able to help our students continue to enhance their academic excellence, alleviate some of the financial stress and motivate them to continue to work hard. More than 380 ECTET Alumni Scholars have benefited over the past 16 years receiving over $150,000 of alumni donations earmarked for this scholarship.
