Our world is ever-changing. Today, technologies advance at the speed of light, economies change, markets are more global than ever before. As a result, the demand for our innovative, dynamic programs —and ultimately our highly-skilled graduates—continues to rise at a dramatic pace across the country and around the world. In response, The College of Applied Science and Technology delivers programs far from our Rochester, NY campus.
Credit and non-credit courses are delivered through distance learning, on-site corporate education and international academic partnerships. These courses are student focused and cater to all student populations; part-time learners, time-and-place bound students, corporations in need of onsite training, and emerging countries looking to increase skills and ultimately hope for their citizens. Our programs are delivered in southeast Europe, China, Dubai, Peru and the Dominican Republic and our online programs include students from every continent! We also prepare workers for targeted career fields through our education centers, such as the New York State Wine and Culinary Center!
Our commitment to preparing students to be innovative, technologically advanced and entrepreneurial is deeply rooted in every program and evidenced across all disciplines in the College of Applied Science and Technology. We also recognize that in addition to being leaders who make meaningful contributions to their areas of study, students must also be well-equipped to succeed in a global world. RIT provides a multi-culturally rich experience for students living on campus. To further embrace and understand globalization, we encourage all our students to explore study abroad opportunities. With programs in Croatia, Kosovo and the Dominican Republic and new ones soon to be in launched in South America, China and other countries, our students can continue to work towards their degrees while experiencing life in different parts of the world! RIT's American College of Management and Technology in Dubrovnik, Croatia
In 1997, RIT was chosen from several prestigious American universities to be the academic model for revitalizing the Croatian hospitality sector and opened the American College of Management and Technology (ACMT) in Dubrovnik, Croatia. Building on the strong foundation of its hospitality and service management programs, ACMT continues to evolve and broaden its academic offerings including opportunities to study international business, information technology, liberal arts, service leadership and innovation, and science.
ACMT students, faculty and staff played a major role securing the bid to host the 29th annual EuroCHRIE Conference in Dubrovnik, Croatia. EuroCHRIE represents 169 International CHRIE (Council on Hotel, Restaurant & Institutional Education) members. The European Federation brings together educators from hospitality and tourism management schools and universities into a global network in close co-operation with industry representatives. Under the CHRIE umbrella, both education and industry combine their efforts to shape the future of hospitality and tourism. Faculty and students from the Rochester campus will be traveling to Croatia to help host as well as participate in the conference. Aside from special events such as the conference, students also travel to Croatia to study abroad and take advantage of an international experience. The number of students taking advantage of this option continues to grow annually, almost doubling this year to 15 students from just seven the year before. Scholarship monies are also available to help offset costs. Additionally, students from ACMT also come to the Rochester campus to study. Our goal is to provide international experiences for every student who wants one. For additional information, on the American College of Management and Technology, please visit: www.acmt.hr
