Teaching opportunities:
The Health System Administration program is actively recruiting adjunct faculty who would like the opportunity and challenge to teach graduate studies using a distance learning format. Requirements for the position include industry experience and an earned Master of Science degree. Faculty

The Health System Administration (HSP) program at RIT is committed to the recruitment and retention of faculty who are unique individuals with an academic and practitioner background within health care. This orientation provides graduate students with a current and comprehensive health care education, utilizing current issues and protocols as part of the education process. The faculty are from many different disciplines and career paths. They include:

Linda Underhill, Ph.D., RD,
Program Chair of Health Systems Administration Department
Dr. Underhill has extensive experience working in the public and private sectors of health care. Her career spans serving as Assistant Director of Food Service and Catering in food and nutrition within the Strong Health medical center. She has held numerous leadership positions including President and CEO of a large for-profit, home health company in the private sector of health care. She also has worked in the not-for-profit sector of health care as President and CEO of a local alliance of long-term care providers. Given these opportunities she has secured grants from New York State and the Federal government to support the educational process for professionals and para-professionals in the health care field.  In addition her academic career has included teaching in the food/nutrition program at RIT as she is an adjunct professor within the state university system.  Her passion is realized in the HSA program as it develops leaders to be in charge of the next generation of health care. As such Dr Underhill strives to constantly update and teach a curriculum that reflects  those strategic skills required to meet the challenges of today and tomorrow.

Dr. Frances Domoy, Ph.D.
Chair, Hospitality and Service Management

Frances M. Domoy, Ph.D. is head of RIT's School of Hospitality and Service Management. He teaches in the graduate and Executive Leader programs. He has also presented numerous lectures and seminars for the hospitality industry in the U.S. and internationally on selected topics such as Service Quality, Yield Management and Globalization. Dr. Domoy has developed international agreements for student exchanges, credit transfer and faculty development. He aggressively established the first international program for the School of Hospitality and Service Management at the American College of Management and Technology in Dubrovnik, Croatia. As a result, an A.A.S. in Hotel/Resort Management was implemented in 1997. Recently a B.S. degree is now being offered at the ACMT. He is also the principal investigator of a USIA retraining grant for middle managers of hotel properties in Croatia.

Jonathan Engel, Ph.D.

Dr. Engel has his degree from Yale University and is Associate Dean for Academic Programs at Baruch College (CUNY) School of Public Affairs in New York.  His experience includes conducting research working for Essex and Union advisory, the White House and the Healthcare Financing Administration of Legislation and Policy.  Dr. Engle teaches the HSA Policy and Law course.

Richard Crici, Ed.D.

Dr. Crici has extensive industry experience as Director of Operations and Administrator for health care specialty practices located in Florida and New York.  Dr. Crici has his degree from Columbia University and experience teaching in adjunct positions at Columbia and Hofstra Universities.   Dr. Crici teaches the Finance for Operations course.

Frederick Borrelli, MBA

Mr. Borrelli serves as Chief Financial Officer, Department of Surgery at the Strong Health medical center in Rochester New York. Utilizing his extensive experience he discusses the financing of health care from an operational perspective in the HSA Finance course.

Elizabeth Pettrone, MS

Ms. Pettrone brings a singular view of information systems to the HSA program as the President and CEO of Practis, Inc., an ehealth company located in Rochester, New York. Utilizing her area of expertise, Ms. Pettrone teaches in the HSA Information System concentration.

James Jacobs, Ph.D.

Dr. Jacobs is Chair of the Service Leadership and Innovation graduate program in the School of Hospitality and Service Management. He brings unique experience to the classroom given his years as a pilot in the U.S. Air Force and years of consulting in the service sector. Dr. Jacobs teaches numerous courses which HSA students take during their studies at RIT.

Beverly Voos, MS

Ms. Voos is an owner and operator of a consulting company in the Rochester area. She brings this expertise to the education arena as a faculty member teaching in the information systems concentration within the HSA curriculum.

James Myers, Ph.D.

Dr. Myers is the Director of the Center for Multidisciplinary Studies at RIT. His academic background is oriented to economics and finance issues in the service sector. Dr. Myers teaches the HSA course on Economics and Finance.

Katherine Hiltunen, MBA, BSN

Ms Hiltunen is the Director of Quality Management at Excellus, a Blue Cross and Blue Shield HMO located in Rochester New York. Ms Hiltunen has extensive experience overseeing every aspect of the provision of quality service by multiple providers within the Excellus system. Ms Hiltunen teaches the Health Insurance and Reimbursement for the HSA program.

Jody Lubba, RN, MS

Ms. Lubba has extensive experience working for HMO’s, and IPA’s within the health care community found in Rochester and the surrounding areas.  Her specific areas of expertise include case and disease management as well as leading transformation teams for the integration of acquired health units.  Ms. Lubba earned her degree in the Health Systems Administration program at RIT and teaches the E-health Course. 

Gloriela Burns, RN, MS, CHIE

Ms. Burns has a depth of knowledge working for HMO’s and health care units within medical centers. In her current position she oversees Medicare Care Management and utilization review for an HMO.  Ms. Burns earned her Master of Science degree from SUNY at Buffalo and has taught in several local universities as an adjunct professor.  Ms. Burns teaches the Health Care Insurance and Reimbursement course.   

Wayne Persutte, Ph.D.

Dr. Persutte has his undergraduate degree in diagnostic ultrasound and has served as director or CEO for many health care enterprises as director or Administrator. Dr. Persutte earned his doctorate from North Central University in Arizona in Business Administration and has taught at numerous universities including the University of Colorado.  Dr. Persutte teaches the health Administration application course. 

Clint Wallington, Ph.D. 

Dr. Wallington led the RIT Instructional Design and Management at RIT for a number of years and now teaches selected courses for the School of Hospitality and Service Management. Dr. Wallington has extensive experience in education and industry and earned his degree for the university of southern California.  Dr. Wallington teaches the Data Analysis course. 

Donna Dickson, MS

Donna Dickson has over two decades of demonstrated competence designing and implementing interventions to improve employee performance and enhance organizational outcomes for companies worldwide. Though her consulting practice, WorkSmart Learning Systems, which has partners in Australia and South Africa, she has collaborated with global corporations such as Xerox, Eastman Kodak Company, GetingeUSA. She provides consulting support to a variety of organizations, with services that include culture audits, process improvements, workforce planning and more. Donna is the 2003 recipient of RIT's Kazmierski Award, which recognizes achievement in the field of human resource development, she has presented at international conferences on topics related to human capital management and employee development, and she has been nominated multiple times for excellent in teaching at RIT. Donna has an MS in Career and Human Resource Development, with a concentration in Instructional Technology from RIT. She currently serves as the Program Chair for the Human Resource Development masters program at RIT where she teaches courses including Human Capital Strategies, Employee Engagement, and The competency Driven Organization.

Kathleen Dever, RN, MS

Ms. Dever has worked in the health care arena in the area of home care and sales for the majority of her administrative career. She is currently enrolled in an advanced degree program at St. John Fishers and is teaching in their nursing program.  Ms. Dever teaches courses in the Senior Living certificate program. 

Adjunct Faculty, Undergraduate Program:

Patricia Poteat, MS

Ms. Poteat has worked in a variety of administrative positions in the local health care community.  She has experience as a quality, risk manager in medical centers and HMO’s and is currently pursing an advanced degree in Educational Leadership at the University of Rochester.  Ms. Poteat teaches the quality assurance and health finance and economics courses. 

Arnold Gissin, MPH

Mr. Gissin has worked for a number of years as a health care administrator in the long-term care arena. He conceptualized and built a senior life community as part of a continuum of care within his health care organization. He brings his knowledge of regulations and legal issues to the HSA Legal Aspects of Health Care course offered in the certificate program.

Kevin Paul, MS

Mr. Paul brings a business accounting orientation to the field of health care. As the Director of Season, LLC, a business consulting service, Mr. Paul provides expertise in the recruiting, strategic planning and evaluation process to allied health organizations. Mr. Paul utilizes this expertise in the Health Care Planning course as part of the certificate program.

Marian Coon, MS, RD

Ms. Coon has extensive experience in the field of nutrition and research projects.  She has worked on grants for the University of Rochester and provides nutrition administrative expertise to a number of local agencies.  Ms coon graduated from the Health System Administration program at RIT and currently works with the nutrition team at RIT to assist with research and grant development.  Ms. Coon teaches the health Administration Course.
