Overview of the philosophy
of the Health Systems Administration Graduate Degree
The Rochester Institute of Technology Health Systems Administration graduate degree includes courses which develop strategic skills necessary for the next generation of health care leadership to possess. The degree requires 48 credits be earned to achieve a Master of Science degree. Students complete five core courses which develop the foundation of understanding of how healthcare functions. Students then personalize their studies with a selection of a concentration of four courses which will meet their career orientation. The four concentrations include:
Students in the traditional program take 3 elective courses, from other HSA concentrations or from within the other graduate programs in the School of Hospitality and Service management. These graduate programs include Service Leadership and Innovation, and Human Resource Development.. When a student is accepted into the HSA program they provide a resume to the program chair. After discussion, an academic plan for a course of studies is developed, which assists the student to work toward their career ambitions. The goal of the HSA program is to provide maximum flexibility in course selection to meet the wide range of career objectives of health care professionals.
