Travel & Tourism Management

Travel is perhaps the most exciting part of the Hospitality and Services Industries. With major corporations spending hundreds of millions of dollars each year on travel, meeting management and entertainment, it is no wonder this is the third highest controllable expense for American Business.

Our program is designed to incorporate the basic concepts of Service Management with the exciting components of traveling and meeting planning. With our setting in RIT, the latest concepts in technology are constantly being applied. With one of the few laboratory based, live American Airlines SABRE systems available in colleges, students learn how to schedule and shop for the the most efficient ways to organize world wide meeting and travel. From creating web pages and presentations, selling tourism destinations, to exploring what makes a destination sell as a corporate training center, all aspects of the industry are explored. A career aimed at helping companies control these costs is certainly a wise choice in these times of corporate cost cutting and downsizing.

Successful meeting and travel management have a sense of what it means to successfully train employees and to motivate personnel for performance. With an eye toward seeing the world and integrating cultures, students in this field are in high demand.

Classes in the undergraduate program are intentionally small. This allows you to work closely with faculty and their peers. Many projects are group based activities which help students learn the skills necessary to excel in today's corporate enviroment.

Combined with distribution and financial controls courses the graduate has a complete sense of how to manage successfully in today's corporate enviroment.

Co-op education allows the students to work in a real business enviroment while being paid and developing valuable contacts for after graduation employement.
