Each year, RIT Baja SAE competes in an international competition sponsored and organized by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). The mini-baja competition itself consists of three regional competitions within the United States, and one international competition. The cars themselves are off-road vehicles that must be capable of surviving and excelling on a course consisting of rough terrain, jumps, and sometimes even bodies of water that must be crossed. During competition, teams are judged on a variety of factors including cost reports, design reports and decisions, acceleration performance, braking performance, suspension performance, and a four hour long endurance race.
RIT Baja SAE is proud of its long tradition of excellence in the Baja SAE competition, having been an active member in almost every event since our first race in 1980. We pride ourselves on our professionalism and dedication, and we love what we do.

The Clean Snowmobile Challenge (CSC) is an engineering design competition for college and university students that requires engineering students to reengineer an existing snowmobile with the goal of reducing emissions and noise. Their modified snowmobiles will compete in a variety of events including emissions, noise, fuel economy/endurance, acceleration, handling, static display, cold start and design.
The intent of the competition is to develop a snowmobile that is acceptable for use in environmentally sensitive areas such as National Parks and Monuments. The modified snowmobiles are expected to be quiet, and emit significantly less unburned hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide than current production snowmobiles, without significantly increasing oxides of nitrogen emissions. The modified snowmobiles are also expected to be cost-effective and comfortable for the operator to drive. The intent of the competition is to design a touring snowmobile that will primarily be ridden on groomed snowmobile trails.
