The mix of students within my program brings a lot of different experiences and interests to the classroom environment. The professors are great and bring their real-world work experience into lessons to make learning more enjoyable and relatable. Being able to get a feel for the corporate work environment and working with other professionals through co-op is an added bonus!
I love how hands-on the program is! The professors are also all passionate about teaching which really encourages you to work hard. We get real experience with equipment used in industry, we are ready to go out in to industry with a lot of experience, just from being in our classes!
I really like the small, hands-on lab classes. The professors know your name and they bring world experiences to the lectures. I enjoyed my co-op experiences because they allowed me to find out where I wanted to be once I graduated. Also, within the College of Applied Science and Technology, there are many clubs; like Society of Manufacturing Engineers, and the Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering Technology/Packaging Science Department supports and encourages its activities!
Thanks to the fantastic resources here at RIT, I was very fortunate to find a wonderful co-op with H.J. Heinz company. During my co-op, I learned far more than I had ever expected to. Not only was I able to begin to collect valuable work experience, but also learned a great deal about my chosen field, packaging science. My co-op experience was also very useful once I returned to the classroom. I am very thankful for all the opportunities that I have been afforded and I look forward to moving forward in my career with the confidence I have gained here.
I love my major and the faculty in the department! They are always there to help--and because of that, I know I will do well and succeed in any field I choose!
No matter what you need, there is always somebody ready and willing to help you. My program really prepares you for industry. You get a lot of hands-on experience to reinforce what you learn in the classroom. You come out with a confidence that you can really apply what you've been taught in the real world. The BS/MS program allows you to get a MS degree in the same amount of time as a BS...saving money and time!
MET is a great program! It not only develops you educationally, but intellectually as well while preparing you for industry.
Since my first class at RIT, I knew I was at the right school. A combination of the major I selected as well as the faculty and staff has helped me get the most out of my time at RIT. The school offers students a wide array of programs and organizations to get involved with, as well as opportunities to grow personally and technically. I have met many students from different areas of the world in different majors, and I will have the opportunity to grow my relationships with each of them, even after we graduate. One of the strongest points of my education at RIT has been the ability to have many different co-op opportunities. Not only does RIT value education, but they also work very diligently with students to find co-ops prior to graduating. While on co-op I was able to apply what I learned in class to my work while learning more about the packaging industry. I am very proud to be graduating from RIT...opportunities are always available to students, and that is a huge advantage being at RIT. As always...GO TIGERS!
Take advantage of all that RIT has to offer--there's a program for everyone!
