MMET/PS students present at SAE conference in Malaysia
Two students (Anson Wong, Sakhawat Hossain) have written and submitted an SAE paper for presentation at the Small Engine Technology Conference in Malaysia.  The paper’s title is ‘Inspiring a College Campus to Design, Create, and Build Green Small Engine Vehicles’.  The paper reviews how RIT, ImagineRIT and the Green Vehicle challenge; raised awareness of environmental issues by engaging participates to build low energy vehicles, develop alternative energy small engine vehicles that did not rely on oil based fuels.  The paper also discusses how RIT exposed the visitors to small vehicle alternative energy solutions, encouraged student/visitor interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) and to exploring non-fossil based fuels for future propulsion systems.

Dr. Anson at SMTAI
Dr. Scott J. Anson, PE, Program Chair of Manufacturing Engineering Technology, gave an interview at Surface Mount Technology Association (SMTA) international conference in Orlando, FL, on August 19, 2008. Dr. Anson discussed how the SMTA professional society and conferences facilitate student mentoring, research, dissemination and a student-industry connection. For more information on the RIT SMTA student chapter, e-mail Dr. Anson at scott.anson@rit.edu. Dr. Anson is also actively involved in electronics manufacturing research at RIT through the Center for Electronics Manufacturing and Assembly (CEMA), together with CEMA director, Dr. S. Manian Ramkumar. Learn more about CEMA at: http://www.rit.edu/cast/cema/.
