Toyota co-ops

Students in Packaging Science are required to complete a cooperative educational experience as part of their course of study. Students have worked all over the United States and in many foreign countries on projects with meaningful results for the employers.

"RIT has the fourth oldest and one of the largest cooperative education programs in the world."

R.I.T Cooperative Education and Career Services

Experience Pays

Besides being a great way to gain professional experience, co-op also provides you with a salary-real income that you can apply toward tuition, books and living expenses. The average RIT engineering technology student earned between $4,300 and $7,700 per 10-week co-op assignment last year, and many of them received permanent job offers from their co-op employers. Students in related majors often earn similar co-op salaries.

How it works

Co-op typically takes place during your junior and senior years, and the Office of Cooperative Education and Career Services will help you find the right co-op opportunities. They offer a series of specially designed seminars on topics such as identifying existing co-op employers, researching other appropriate employers, writing resumes, and learning interview techniques. If you want some tips from insider, attend their panel discussions, where co-op employers give advice about your job search and students describe their recent co-op experiences. Hundreds of companies from Fortune 500 firms to smaller, privately owned companies-come to campus each year to recruit students for co-op positions.

Tools for your future

There's no doubt about it, co-op is one of the most valuable experiences you'll have during your college years. Experience in your field, confidence in your abilities and skills, poise in job interviews, self-reliance that comes from living on your own and learning how to network-all these experiences, will prove invaluable as you advance through your career. - Salary Data
