Excellence in Health Awards
Nancy S. Jones
Summer 1997 Graduate
In 1989, at the age of 43, 1 was given the opportunity to attend the college of my choice. I called RIT and met with a counselor in the College of Continuing Education. With her guidance, I enrolled in the flex degree program and built in a certificate curriculum in Health Systems Administration. Thanks to the many people I interacted with at the college, I was able to complete my four year degree in two years while working full-time. I was able to attend school in the early mornings, evenings and weekends. The flexibility afforded me by the professors was unprecedented. I graduated with my first RIT degree in 1991. Shortly thereafter, I was hired into a management position in the health care field.
In 1995, I began the distance learning masters program in Health Systems Administration. This excellent teaching method gave me the opportunity to get an advanced degreeagain while working full-time and studying at my convenience. As a result of my further education at
RIT, I was promoted with a substantial increase in pay. The two years it took to complete this program has now given me credentials to establish myself as a serious player in the health care field. I am proud to be a graduate from the Rochester Institute of Technology.
