Message from the Chair


We want to take this opportunity to begin to build our relationship with each new graduate colleague. It is certainly our desire to provide an inspiring, highly intellectual, result-oriented program for each of you - a program we hope you will find possesses extreme currency, relevance, breadth, and most important, usability today and into your future.

This web site has been developed to serve you. While it may seem much like policy or procedure, we hope, first and foremost that you use it as an informational guide; and handy and convenient reference document that helps to point you in the right direction. At the same time, it is an in- progress document, one that is always available for critique and renewal. We would like it to enhance and, in many ways, help you through your educational pursuits with us, and more, become valuable over time.

The School of International Hospitality and Service Innovation, Department of Service Systems is comprised of the Service Leadership and Innovation, Human Resource Development and Health Systems Administration degrees and a host of advanced certificates. You will find a combination of new and critical materials wedded into real time uses throughout the program.

It is our intent to provide you with an intellectual and practical environment. It will not be uncommon for you to be directly involved with industry partners during courses, both interactively as they display their values, beliefs and skills during course sessions, and in true partnerships, as instructors push each of you to develop further community and industry relationships involving research, projects, consulting and more.

Various discussion groups, teams, chats and more are regularly available and open for your participation. Become a part of this true service-learning environment; an environment where all learners, industry, alumni and current program learners, are placed into a real time inquiry and reflection process to help all remain and stay leading edge.

We certainly desire that you explore this web site further and begin the process of developing a continuous learning and life-long partnership with RIT. We will undoubtedly become involved in creating and implementing new opportunities.
