Cooperative Education

Students get a head start on their career through RIT’s internationally-known cooperative education program.

RIT was one of the first universities in the world to have co-op education when it started its program in 1912. Today, RIT’s program is one of the largest in the world.

Co-ops at RIT provide students with opportunity to gain professional work experience over three to five academic quarters. Students may work for as many as five employers across the country. Co-ops give students the chance to test what they’ve learned in the classroom while working with professionals in their field. Co-op experiences give students an edge over other graduates in their career field.
