Society of Women Engineers (SWE) Conference
Eight Students earned a trip to the Region-E SWE Conference at Columbia University in New York City! This event was sponsored in part by ‘Project Lead the Way’ and an Interactive Learning Grant from RIT’s Division of Student Affairs. All eight students fulfilled their commitment to WIT by participating in at least three professional skills workshops at RIT and volunteering for one to three outreach events. It was the first conference experience for most of the students.
While at Columbia University, students had the opportunity to use the professional networking skills acquired from their participation in WIT! There was a variety of workshops to choose from, along with a career and graduate school fair.
National Girls Collaborative Project (NGCP)
WIT Program Coordinator, Elaine Lewis, attended the NGCP conference in Alexandria, VA. This conference brings together organizations throughout the United States that are committed to informing and encouraging girls to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The Collaboration Conference is an opportunity for representatives from these organizations to connect and learn from each other and from national experts.
