Bruce Austin Appointed Director of the RIT Press

May 27, 201

Bruce Austin, professor and former chairman of the Department of Communication, has been named RIT Press Director.  In this new role, Bruce will manage RIT’s scholarly publishing enterprise, “dedicated to the innovative use of new publishing technology” to offer “specialized titles for niche academic audiences,  trade editions for mass-market audiences, occasional limited editions with unique aesthetic standards, as well as gift items.”

Bruce is supremely qualified for this position.  A widely published scholar with long experience in print media, he brings a wealth of knowledge and a formidable work ethic to the task.  As Provost Jeremy Haefner wrote in announcing the appointment, “the Press has found the ‘dynamic and creative leader with a commitment to scholarship’ that is needed to move the Press into the future.”

While directing the Press will demand much of his time and energy, Bruce will remain an active and valued member of the Department of Communication. Congratulations, Bruce!
