Teaching Assistantships
Every Economics student at RIT is eligible to apply for a
teaching assistantship. Teaching assistants work with a professor in the
department and tutor students in Principles of Economics I & II
classes. Teaching assistants work an average of 4 hours per week and
receive a stipend of $300/quarter.
Research Assistantships
Economics students may also apply for a research
assistantship. Research assistants work with an Economics professor to
assist with the professor’s research project. A research assistant is
expected to work approximately 50 hours during the academic year. The
stipend is $400/academic year.
Funded Independent Research
Every Economics student has the opportunity to conduct
his/her own research, receive academic credit and obtain funds to carry it
out. Students will select their own topic or pick one suggested by an
Economics professor, subject to departmental approval and submit a proposed
budget. The student will then work with an individual professor who will
oversee the project and assign the grade.
Educational Enrichment Program
Did you ever want to visit the Federal Reserve in Washington
but didn’t have the funds? Well, Economics students now can obtain
funding for an educational activity. In order to apply an Economics student
needs to submit a budget, a description of the activity, and an explanation
of how the outcome will be assessed. It’s that simple!
Omicron Delta Epsilon – International Honor Society

Omicron Delta Epsilon, the International Honors Society
in economics, is the world's largest economics undergraduate honorary
